More rain expected after weekend of flood hell

More rain is expected this evening just days after floods swept through Calderdale.

The Met Office has issued the yellow ‘be aware’ warning for rain - valid from 3pm this afternoon (Tuesday) until 8am tomorrow morning.

A spokesperson said: “A cold front will move east across western parts of the UK during Tuesday night and Wednesday, with an associated strong, moist southwesterly airflow.

“Rainfall accumulations through this period are expected to be widely 20-40 mm, with 60 mm or more over some higher ground.”

A separate warning has also been issued for wind, with experts forecasting gusts of nearly 70mph in exposed areas.
