Calderdale shoppers now able to donate to charity through unique contactless payment point
The Community Foundation for Calderdale (CFFC) has partnered with Halifax BID, Woolshops Shopping Centre, Yorkshire Payments, and Briggs Priestley Signs to launch the first permanent contactless card donation point in the area so shoppers can donate safely and help local charities.
The donations will go to the Community Foundation for Calderdale who give over £1 million of grants each year to help charities and not for profits who help Calderdale residents.
Jason Gregg, Centre Manager of Woolshops Shopping Centre, said: “We are extremely proud to be working with Halifax BID, the Community Foundation for Calderdale, Yorkshire Payments and Briggs Priestly Signs on this project.
"Community is something we place great importance on here at Woolshops and we want to ensure that we give back to Calderdale. Our Yorkshire shoppers are well known for their compassion for others, so I am sure this contactless donation station will be a huge success and will help to raise vital funds for an extremely worthy cause.
"This is something I have wanted to get off the ground for some time and it is fantastic to finally see it up and running.”
CFFC give grants to causes helping local people, including those dealing with mental health and wellbeing.

We are always touched by the kindness of people are excited about this innovative initiative.”
Brighouse entrepreneur and philanthropist James Howard, MD of Yorkshire Payments explained, “We appreciate that the way some people feel comfortable donating has changed from cash to card and we want to still make it quick, easy and simple for them to do this. We already have local charitable organisations using pop up contactless donation points, so it’s great to have installed this first permanent point so shoppers can donate as and when they feel.”
