Calderdale's Andy's Man Club receives grant to continue through coronavirus pandemic

A men's mental health group has received an injection of cash in order to continue through the coronavirus pandemic.

MAXIMUS Foundation UK provided Andy’s Man Club with a grant of £2,500 to help maintain mental health support for men during the pandemic.

Andy’s Man Club, which was founded in Halifax, runs 28 clubs across the country, which support men struggling with their mental health, and aims to encourage men to discuss their problems more openly.

So we’re delighted to be able to help Andy’s Man Club continue to run its much-needed talking sessions through this difficult period."

The donation forms a part of the Foundation’s largest ever charitable award, giving £50,000 to help local charities nationwide affected by the Covid-19 crisis.

Andy Greenway, Project Development Worker, Andy’s Man Club, said: “We’re very grateful for this award from the MAXIMUS Foundation, which will help us set up new clubs around the country and help us to deliver our clubs online during the Covid-19 crisis.

The grant will also help us to promote Andy’s Man Club and raise awareness regarding men’s mental health issues."

The mental health group was formed by former professional Halifax Rugby League player Luke Ambler after his brother-in-law, Andy Roberts, 23, died by suicide in April 2016.

MAXIMUS Foundation UK is a not-for-profit enterprise established by MAXIMUS UK. It has donated more than £320,000 in grants to charities and community groups since 2015.
