Crew shows scouts what daily life is like as a firefighter

Beaver Scouts from Hove Edge visited Brighouse Fire Station to learn more about how firefighters tackle emergencies.

The Scout HQ has recently been out-of-bounds due to work to replace the storm damaged roof and so the leaders lined up a special treat for the youngsters to go along to the Lister Street station.

After a brief test alarm activation the children were treated to a guided tour of the fire engine, looking at the various pieces of equipment, and even had the chance to try on their boots.

The firefighters explained to the Beaver Scouts that their work wasn’t just about putting out fires but also attending car accidents and other emergency situations. As the evening drew to a close the fire engine drove out into the rear yard with emergency lights flashing and then allowed the youngsters to have a go with the fire hoses.
