David and Marion Reynolds are celebrating their Diamond Wedding tomorrow, remembering their big day in 1960 at King Cross Methodist Church.

Mr Reynolds, a former RAF serviceman, left the force and retrained as a teacher at Sacred Heart School in Sowerby Bridge, while his wife also fulfilled her dream to teach at Triangle, Haugh Shaw, Queen’s Road and later becoming headteacher at Lee Mount Infants.

She also had dramatic leanings which started at The YMCA pantomime section, followed by joining the Halifax Thespians, where she was a keen worker and became president for 19 years and appeared regularly in the plays.

Like her husband, Mrs Reynolds was keen on sport and occasionally they played mixed doubles in tennis.

Marion has been an active Methodist all her life, and now she enjoys Covid-style worship at St Andrew’s Church in Huddersfield Road.

David and Marion produced two sons, Brian and Paul.

Both sons live in Halifax and have brought great happiness with all that they do, with Paul currently head of Old Earth Primary School.

They, and daughter-in-law, Helen, have been huge help looking after the ‘diamond couple’ during the pandemic.

The married couple are still active and plan to take a world trip or flights in a balloon, which has been shelved, once the pandemic eases.
