The volunteers at the food bank are very proud to say that from applying for the grant, being awarded it, liaising with local schools, ordering and collecting the food, packing up the bags and delivering them to the local schools took just two weeks. Sixty of the most needy families in Elland were helped by this project.

Steve Duncan, CEO of the Community Foundation for Calderdale said: “We are passionate about combatting hunger and are delighted to have so much support for our Never Hungry Again campaign. We would like to say a massive thank you to Elland Food Bank for working with us, coming together and showing kindness and helping our community.”

Elland Food Bank will be running the project again for the Christmas holiday, Spring half term holiday and the Easter holiday next year.

As well as being so grateful for the generosity of the CFFC for the financial contribution towards this project, the food bank is also indebted to Suma Wholefoods at Lowfields in Elland.

Suma donated an enormous amount of baked beans with vegetarian sausages, bags of pasta, tinned fruit; honey and UHT milk.
