Health update on young Calderdale man seriously hurt in Zante as community collects £28,000 for his care
The parents of a young Calderdale man seriously injured in an accident in Greece have issued an update on his condition.
The Courier reported on Friday how Louis Benson was away with friends on his first holiday without his parents when he was hurt in the accident in Zante.
He was transferred to a hospital in Athens by the Royal Air Force where his condition has been described as “critical but stable”.
His parents have posted that Louis has suffered a severe brain injury and is being sedated.

"For now stable is good” they have said.
An online fundraiser launched to ensure there is enough for Louis’ medical care and his family can be with him has already raised more than £28,800 since it was launched on Thursday.
His parents posted they have been “totally overwhelmed” by people’s response and the amount of donations made, and they are “eternally grateful”.
Sowerby Bridge restaurant Engine Social Dining, where Louis works, has shared the fundraising page with the message: “One of our team here at Engine, Louis, has suffered a terrible accident whilst on holiday. He needs our help.
"If anyone can offer any support we would be very grateful.”
