After losing a large proportion of their advertising revenue, the volunteer-run Halifax organisation hopes to raise £5,000 through the appeal.

Donors can claim an array of rewards, from raffle tickets and newsletters to having one of the station’s studios named in their honour.

Joanne Rogers, Social Media and Marketing Manager for the station, said: “We still have to pay rent, bills and licence fees. Our monthly outgoings are still the same, even in lockdown.

“We are so much more than just a radio station and we want to ensure we can continue running our youth and community projects when this is all over.

“So we are asking for your help. Any donation will be greatly appreciated and go towards keeping our station on air.

“Any additional money raised will go towards our youth projects, so we can help even more local young people.”

The award winning non-for-profit also received the “devestating news” that they had been rejected for an emergency grant from broadcasting regulatory body Ofcom.

Since its launch in 2007, the station has been recognised as a pillar of the community, working closely with disadvantaged young people, special needs schools and care homes.

They also provide local charities and voluntary organisations, including Overgate Hospice in Elland and Voluntary Action Calderdale, with radio shows.

The station has even created a board game designed to help those affected by dementia.
