As part of the project, Ms Lassey will be working with silver screen legend and former Doctor Who, Sylvester McCoy.

Ms Lassey said: "We're thrilled to announce that legend of big and small screen, Sylvester McCoy, former Doctor Who and star of the Hobbit films, is to star in Wakefield-based short film production “The Grim Reaping of Harvey Grieves."

It is set to be a breakthrough project for the team of local filmmakers behind the film, which will be featured in film festivals around the world and online, and the team are overwhelmed to receive confirmation that Mr McCoy has agreed to take on the role of Harvey.

The film tells the story of elderly Harvey, who has better ideas when the Grim Reaper turns up to tick him off their list.

Ms Lassey described the film as a 'sharp comedy with a wholesome heart' that pits Harvey against Death in a hapless chase, only to find that all Harvey wanted was to say goodbye to the things that really matter - his home, the memory his late wife, and their pet cat.

You can find out more about the film on social media @harveygrieves, or on Kickstarter crowdfunding for the film until December 17 to support the production.

"The clock is ticking to get this local production under way, so follow the film's social media," said Ms Lassey.

"We'd love to bring everyone along for this amazing ride and to create a fantastic piece of cinema to show the world."
