These Calderdale schools have to partially closed due to coronavirus

Schools in Calderdale will be partially closed from the end of today for health and safety reasons.

Many are taking the steps to partially close to stop the spread of coronavirus and due to staffing levels at the school.

Here is list of schools which are partially closed

In a letter to parents the head teacher Steve Evans said: "I am writing to you to update you on the school’s position in regards to Corona Virus.

"The spread of the virus and the impact that it is having on staffing levels at the school, means that the school is currently unable to operate as normal.

"Therefore, to ensure that high standards of health and safety at the school are maintained, I have taken the decision to partly close the school, the school will only be open to Year 10 and 11 students. This will mean that the school is closed to students in Years 7, 8 and 9 for the rest of this week."

Halifax Academy

The school said: "Due to staff absence and to ensure student safety, the school will only be open to Primary students, Year 8 and Year 11. There will be a delayed start - students should arrive for a 9:20 start. School will be closed to Year 7, 9 & 10 students."

Calder High School

The high school will only be open to Years 7, 8 and Year 11. In a letter to parents headteacher Anthony Guise said: "This is not a decision I have taken lightly and as Headteacher, not a decision I want to make; but in these unique and testing times I hope you can continue to support the school, as you always have."

The Brooksbank School

Year 10 and 12 students will be sent home today (Wednesday) after lunch until further notice. The school said staffing constraints are continuing to evolve in light of coronavirus and ask for parents' understanding at this time
