Todmorden dance students celebrate top exam results

Twelve students from StoryMagic Theatre School in Todmorden all received distinctions after taking the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA) exams.

The students aged between 9 and 13 took Group Recital exams based on The Brontes and Wind in the Willows.

The content of the exams was created by their teacher Katrina Heath and was tailored to each groups age.

“It was lovely to see the students grow as a team and work together so beautifully,” said StoryMagic Theatre School founder and lead teacher Katrina Heath.

“It was a long wait for the results as the lock down slowed the process but it was worth the wait as the marks they achieved are outstanding.

“The content was challenging and the students had to work really hard to prepare the material on top of rehearsing for shows and carol singing.

“We are all disappointed that the summer show had had to be cancelled but we keep our fingers crossed for pantomime. LAMDA havn’t been able to issue us with certificates yet so their will have to be a second wave of celebrations when they arrive!”

There is also an access fund to provide free or subsidised tuition to families that need that option.
