Chris Sands, director and founder of Totally Locally and organiser of the Valley of Lights Festival in the Calder Valley - one of the main rasons he got the award - said: “I feel really honoured and a bit shocked to receive this award. It means such a lot, especially to know work we have done has inspired people. It makes it all worthwhile.”

Christopher Bailey, who lives in Warley and is an admirer of the district’s herritage, said: “As someone lucky enough to have enjoyed the benefits of an amazing education, and to have found a vocation I love, I know first-hand what a huge difference higher education can make to your life. So it is an incredible honour to receive an Inspire Award from Calderdale College, which does such brilliant work to create opportunities through learning in the local community. I have enormous pride in my Calderdale roots and a deep affection for this wonderful corner of the world, which I am glad still to call home.”
