The award is the gold standard for being a safe and welcoming place for a night out.

To celebrate being a Purple Flag town, Halifax town centre is hosting events for Purple Flag week, between Saturday September 27 and Friday October 3.

As part of the week, we’re encouraging people around Halifax to wear purple for the day on Tuesday September 30, showing support and raising awareness for the scheme.

Events are also taking place in Halifax town centre, including police exhibition vans at the Woolshops shopping centre on Saturday September 27 and at Broad Street Plaza on Sunday September 28.

Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities, Councillor Marcus Thompson, said: “We’re proud to be a Purple Flag town, and by getting involved in Purple Flag week we’re reminding people that Halifax holds this prestigious award, meaning it’s a great place for a safe night out.

“We are very proud of the hard work our staff and partners have put in to ensure Halifax keeps its Purple Flag status, and it’s great we can celebrate this during the national week.”
