Putting all the pieces in place for a great Jigsaw Festival

Puzzles galore will fill St Martin’s Church, Brighouse, over the Bank Holiday weekend for the fourth annual Charity Jigsaw Festival.

More than 1,200 puzzles, comprising over 850,000 individual pieces, have been donated and assembled by many willing people from the local community with some family groups having assembled over 70 puzzles.

During the festival a display of upto 200 made-up jigsaws of various makes, types and sizes will fill the body of St Martin’s Church and as soon as one puzzle is sold another will be put on display. There will be puzzles for all tastes - children’s puzzles, traditional country scenes, 3D, double-sided, murder mystery, crossword, impossipuzzles, wasgij and mirror image.

Entry will be £2, which includes a £1 discount voucher towards the purchase of a puzzle at the Festival. If you retain your programme you can return as many times as you wish without paying again.

A selection of delicious food will also be served at the Missing Piece Cafe, including morning coffee, bacon sandwiches, lunches, all day breakfasts and afternoon tea.

There will also be crafts, a luxury raffle (sponsored by Businesses in Brighouse and beyond), a tombola and a golden jigsaw competition paying cash prizes.

The Jigsaw Festival will run from Friday, August 28, to Monday, August 31, from 10am until 5pm. Sunday opening will be 12 noon.

Money raised from this year’s festival will be donated to Calderdale based charity Together for Looked-after Children.

The charity provides book parcels for primary school children through its Letterbox scheme and Busy Box craft kits for pre-school children.

Its enrichment fund offers finanical support for additional needs which can range from equipment for apprenticeships, one to one tuition, educational visits and training.
