The incident occurred at around 11pm on Friday, when four suspects wearing face coverings, armed with what are believed to be a knife and a hammer, entered a residential care home on Cooper Lane.
They made threats of violence to a female care-worker in her 20s, before assaulting her and leaving her with facial injuries.

Detective Constable Craig Pearson of Halifax CID said; “I would appeal to anyone who may have been in the area on Friday evening and may have seen anything or anyone acting suspicious to come forward.
“I would also ask anyone who may have seen the black Vauxhall Zafira on or since Friday evening, or who knows where it is now to get in touch.
“This has clearly been a frightening experience for the victim who has been left with significant facial injuries following the incident. Anyone who knows anything should speak to us on 101. Enquiries are continuing.”
