Sainsbury’s Mytholmroyd store to re-open next week

It has been closed since Boxing Day, but will reopen on Thursday, January 7.

A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said, “Our colleagues at Mytholmroyd are looking forward to welcoming back customers on Thursday.

“Since the first floods hit in November, Sainsbury’s has donated over £100,000 worth of goods, including clothing, water and cleaning supplies, to communities affected by the flooding.”

The supermarket giant has donated a broad range of products to local communities, including cleaning products, homeware and cookware.

It has also supplied mops, buckets, cloths, rubber gloves, brushes, disinfectant, batteries, torches and storage boxes.

Supplies have gone to the Hebden Bridge Community Association to support the flood relief effort Mytholmroyd.

The Co-op, has also opened special pop up shops in Mytholmroyd and Hebden Bridge to help aid those affected by the recent heavy rain and flooding in the area.

Each of the temporary store will stock 150 lines across grocery, fresh foods and bakery items.

In addition, the Co-op has donated hundreds of parcels containing tea, coffee, toilet rolls, water and other essentials which have been delivered by employees of the community retailer joining in flood relief activity to support local residents, nursing homes and others in the community.

The temporary units will be selling a basic range of food and will be open from 7am-5pm at Mytholmroyd and from 8am-4pm at Hebden Bridge and can be found in the supermarket car parks.

John McNeill, North Managing Director, The Co-op Food, said: “The last couple of days have been a challenging time across the region and our staff have been working hard to support the local community. We have q number of food stores in the area closed due to flooding damage, but in the villages we hope our pop-up stores will help serve the community as the clean-up efforts commence.”
