Snow hits Calderdale: Travel disruption

The snow has caused major disruption to roads and public transport throughout Calderdale this morning.

The West Yorkshire Road Policing Unit has confirmed that Kew Hill, Blackley, is closed due to an overturned vehicle.

All lanes are open on the M62 west of Junction 26, however, caution is needed on slip roads. Traffic heavy but coping so far.

Metro has confirmed that the 592 service is not serving Burnley at the moment and is terminating in Todmorden.

Halifax services are running on the main roads only.

The 500 service is operating between Keighley and Haworth only.

Most school specials in Calderdale will not operate due to school closures except Brighouse, Brooksbank, and Huddersfield New College.

No school specials are running in Todmorden/Hebden Bridge.

The X58 is unable to serve Rochdale, terminating in Ripponden.

The 561 is unable to serve Mill Bank.

The 900 & 901 services are only running between Huddersfield and Outlane.

Highways England is advising road users in the North West of England to check the weather forecast and road conditions before they travel this morning between midnight and 10am as snow is forecast for the North West of England.

As a result of the forecasted snow Highways England has issued a HE Severe Weather Alert for Snow and customers are advised to take extra care when travelling due to the increased risk of adverse driving conditions.

Highways England, which is responsible for motorways and other major roads in England, is working closely with the Met Office to monitor weather conditions and maintain safe roads and deliver reliable journeys.

Road users are advised to plan for their journey before they set out, checking the forecast and road conditions and to leave extra time if travel conditions are poor and to delay their journey if the weather becomes severe.
