Students shine at Calderdale College's annual Star Awards
The ceremony recognised students who have gone above and beyond to produce outstanding work and support the College and wider community.
The evening welcomed over 500 guests, which included students and their friends and families, staff, governors, partners and employers to celebrate the fantastic achievements and contributions made by the college’s students.

Hide AdRead: Head of Rastrick High to join Calderdale Council as Assistant DirectorCollege staff members nominated students and apprentices who they believed deserved to be recognised for their hard work, resulting in over 160 nominations.
John Rees, Principal and Chief Executive at Calderdale College commented on the evening:
“I would firstly like to say a huge thank you to all guests, performers and college staff who came together to celebrate the fantastic achievements of our students.
Our College only really exists to support our students and the ceremony was all about recognising a very wide range of achievements; from young people to adults, in college-based and work-based learning and also for achievements which reach beyond the classroom and into the wider community of the College.

I would like to personally congratulate everyone who was nominated, as that in itself is an impressive and significant achievement.”
The event also offered a great opportunity for our students to gain work experience, with music and performing arts students providing the entertainment, catering students providing the food and film and photography students capturing the event.
Kai Bone, Performing Arts student at Calderdale College and co-presenter of the awards spoke about his role at the Star Awards:
“When I was asked to co-host the event with my fantastic co-host Andrea Quantrill, I was more than happy to accept. I also got to perform on the night which was a great experience. I felt extremely proud to be trusted with this huge responsibility and it has given me fantastic experience and a great insight into my future career. It was an honour to speak on stage at the Victoria Theatre and the entire event was a celebration of many inspiring students who all deserved the awards.”
