Claire, who is based in Halifax, is urging people in the region to join her in the fight against dementia, which currently affects more than 100,000 people in the area.

“In my first few weeks with Alzheimer’s Research UK I’ve already met many wonderful fundraisers who are going above and beyond to support our work.

“Research is the answer to dementia, and for many people who’ve seen its effects first-hand, raising money for research can be a powerful way of standing up against the condition.

“Thanks to existing support, we are funding over £1.1m of pioneering research in Yorkshire, including ground-breaking projects in Sheffield, Bradford, Leeds and York, but we need more support to help us increase our investment.

Claire will help support the charity’s many committed fundraisers in the region, and she hopes to inspire even more people to help raise much-needed money for research.

She is keen to hear from anyone with a fundraising idea, as well as those who need inspiration to get started and anyone who wants to set up a local fundraising group for the charity.

Claire is also looking for people who can spare some time to help with a bucket collection at Leeds railway station, which is due to take place from 7am to 7pm on Thursday November 27.
