Team's charity peak challenge

A team of adventurous colleagues tackled a tough fundraising challenge for a Halifax-based charity which supports ill children and their families.

The group, who all work at Halifax Security, Pye Nest, took on the national Three Peaks Challenge - Snowdon, Wales, Scafell Pike, England and Ben Nevis, Scotland - to raise vital funds for the Yorkshire Children’s Trust.

The trust offers financial help to the families of sick children across Yorkshire and does not receive any lottery, NHS or government funding.

The team knew it would be a worthwhile cause to support and were spurred on to tackle the three climbs.

Tom Pearson, 28, who works in business development at the firm, said: “It’s such a great charity and it feels really worthwhile to have done it.

“We set off from Halifax to Scotland to take on Ben Nevis, which was a bit gruelling to say the least, but when we got to the top, it was all worth it.

“We completed that one and then drove down to Scafell Pike. We did a lot of that in the dark, which was a bit unnerving at times. There’s very few paths so it was quite intense going by torchlight.”

Finally, the team of seven reached Snowdon to complete the trio.

Speaking about the experience, Tom added: “It was difficult, but looking back it was amazing and it’s something we would like to repeat.”

The team has managed to raise nearly £600 through its JustGiving page and there is still more to come in.

They will keep the page open throughout the year, to raise as much money as possible for the charity.
