Teenager involved in Dewsbury street robbery

Police are appealing for information after an attempted robbery on a 16-year-old boy in Dewsbury.

The incident happened on Friday May 23 as he walked on Moorcroft, at around 7.20am when the male suspect stopped the victim and asked him for the time.

Detective Constable Peter Usher, from Kirklees CID, said: “As the victim took his mobile phone out of his pocket the suspect attempted to grab the phone and a struggle ensued.

“Shortly after the victim had shouted for help the suspect fled the scene empty handed.

“He is described as a white male in his late teens, around 5ft 6” tall with a thin build and a defined narrow beard and goatee and had ‘wide eyes’. He was wearing a pair of light grey Adidas tracksuit bottoms with three black stripes down the legs and a matching grey Adidas jumper. He was also wearing a black beanie style hat.

“Fortunately the victim was not injured in the attempted robbery but was left shaken by the incident.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Constable Peter Usher in Kirklees CID in 101 or by calling Crimestoppers, anonymously and in confidence, on 0800 555 111.
