Todmorden slaughterhouse raided in meat investigation
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has confirmed it carried out a raid at a Todmorden slaughterhouse this afternoon (Tuesday) as part of an ongoing investigation into mislabelling of meat products.
The FSA and police entered the Peter Boddy Licensed Slaughterhouse, at East Hey Head Farm, following suspicions it has supplied horse carcasses to Farmbox Meats Ltd in Llandre, Aberystwyth.
Both plants have been suspended immediately so they can no longer supply food onto the market while investigations continue.
The FSA has detained all meat found and seized paperwork, including customer lists, from the two companies.
