Calderdale fire crews battle coach fire on the M62

Firefighters for West Yorkshire and Lancashire have been tackling a coach fire on the M62

Fire crews were called at 10.30am today (Friday) to the blaze on the eastbound carriageway between junction 22 and 23.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "The coach was 90 per cent involved in fire and extinguished using two hose reels.

"Three appliances from Rastrick, Huddersfield and Rochdale attended the incident."

Jasmine Kendal was able to get this photo of the fire.

"She said: "As we drove past westbound, my boyfriend who’s the Crew Commander at Illingworth Fire Station and I noticed that the crew from Rastrick were attacking the fire wearing breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet.

"As we were driving away, a further three appliances/fire engines from Manchester were on their way Eastbound to the scene."
