New risk-based inspection policy will rank repairs needed for Calderdale's roads
A new risk-based highway inspection policy to prioritise repairs has been given the thumbs up.
The new policy, with a regular system of checks, ranging from monthly to annually, and also taking in footways and cycleways as well as roads, adopts a hierarchical system with motorway at category one and minor access roads at category seven, and a risk matrix running from negligible to high with suggested response timescales.
Previously a simplified four-category system with general definitions and timescales has been used.
