Brighouse crew attend fire at family home in Wyke

Fire fighters from Brighouse have attended a fire at a family home in Wyke this morning (Wednesday).

The incident happened in the upstairs section of a house on Griffe Road at 6.30am.

Four children and an adult managed to escape from the building and nobody was hurt.

The ignition point was one of the children’s bedrooms and the cause is under investigation.

The Brighouse crew, who accompanied an appliance from Odsal, used two hose reels, two breathing apparatus and a high pressure fan to extinguish the flames.

The incident caused smoke and fire damage to the property.

The family were alerted to the fire by their smoke detector.
