Calderdale travel chaos as Elland Road remains shut and police close off Elland Bridge

Elland Road in Brighouse was closed off yesterday afternoon because of a landslip.

Metro Travel news confirmed just after 4pm that there is disruption to the 564 and 571 services.

The 571 will operate normal route but delays are likely.

Diversions plans are being made for the 564 service.

Calderdale Council has confirmed the incident is being investigated and safety work is still being carried out.

A spokesperson said: "Elland Road, Brighouse will remain closed through this morning's rush hour. Please avoid the area and seek an alternative route. Highways staff are carrying out inspections will reopen the road as soon as possible."

A serious road crash has also closed off Elland Bridge this morning.

Calderdale Council has said all the roads leading up to the bridge are also closed including Saddleworth Road, Briggate, Park Road/Halifax Road and Exley Lane.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Bridgefield Mills is closed due to a serious road traffic collision involving one vehicle.

"Road closures are in place on Elland Bridge, Park Road to Elland Bridge and Halifax Road to Calderdale Way - motorists are advised to avoid the area."
