Inquest opens into death of pensioner involved in M62 crash near Brighouse

An inquest has opened and adjourned into the death of a 90-year-old who died in an accident on the M62.

Pauline Ackstine, from Salford, was a passenger in a Vauxhall Vivaro van which crashed between junction 24 Ainley Top and junction 25 Brighouse on the eastbound carriageway just after noon on Friday.

Police said the van was reported to go across the carriageway and be involved in a collision with a Kia Picanto.

She died from her injuries.

A man driving the Picanto suffered minor injuries, as did a man driving the Vivaro.

The eastbound side of the motorway was shut for several hours while police carried out investigations and cleared the scene.

Crews from Brighouse and Elland fire stations attended, along with the air ambulance and other emergency teams.
