Man dies in Elland Bridge car crash as police appeal for witnesses

West Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision this morning on Elland Bridge.
Officers were called at around 4.57am by the ambulance service to a report a blue Volkswagen Golf had been in collision with a lamppost and a wall.

Hide AdAll the roads leading up to the bridge were closed including Saddleworth Road, Briggate, Park Road/Halifax Road and Exley Lane.
The driver of the vehicle, a man in his 40s, received medical treatment but was pronounced dead a short time later.
The road was closed for seven hours as investigation work was carried out.
Calderdale Council confirmed just before lunchtime that Elland bridge has been re-opened.

Hide AdOfficers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone who saw the vehicle driving in the area prior to the collision to get in touch.
