Nine firefighters rescue pet cow from bog in Todmorden

A pet cow had to be rescued from a bog in Todmorden last night (Monday).

The cow had been stuck in the bog for several hours when its owner called firefighters to Meadow Bottom Farm, Hollingworth Lane, Walsden at 10.43pm.

Todmorden firefighters attended the scene with a Land Rover and Argocat, whilst the water rescue crew from Rastrick also attended.

Nine firefighters pulled the cow out using rope, straps and a hose reel.

Although it took the cow a while to regain its balance once out of the bog it is understood to be fit and well.

Firefighters were at the scene for three hours.
