Police appeal: Two people in ‘critical but stable condition’ after Queensbury crash

Police are appealing for witnesses following the incident which happened at around 3.30am, when a red Mini Cooper travelling towards Halifax on the A647 at Priestley Hill, Queensbury, was in collision with a red Toyota Hiace travelling in the opposite direction.

Two passengers of the Mini - a 17-year-old female and a 19-year-old male, both from Bradford - are in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

The driver of the Mini, an 18-year-old man from Halifax, was also taken to hospital with serious injuries, but is currently stable, as is the passenger of the Hiace, a 38-year-old man from Bradford, who suffered facial injuries.

All four casualties, plus the driver of the taxi, were taken to Leeds and Bradford Royal Infirmaries.

After the crash, fire crews had to cut the roof off the Mini to rescue the occupants, while they had to use an extrication board to release the driver and the passenger in the taxi.

Two appliances from Halifax and one from Illingworth attended the incident and left at 5am,.

Priestly Hill was closed for four hours, reopening at around 8am.

Any witnesses to the collision or anyone who saw either vehicle prior to it, is asked to contact PC 137 Good at the Western Area Roads Policing Unit on 101.
