A death on the railway line near Halifax has led to trains being cancelled today.

As reported by the Courier earlier, all trains between Leeds and Hebden Bridge have been cancelled or are being diverted this afternoon after emergency services were called to the tracks.

British Transport Police have now confirmed officers were called to the railway near Copley just after 11.30am to report of a casualty on the tracks.

A spokesperson said: “Officers and paramedics attended and sadly a person was pronounced dead.

"The incident is not thought to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Train services running between Leeds and Hebden Bridge are being cancelled or delayed.

Disruption is expected until around 2.30pm.

Passengers travelling between Bradford Interchange and Hebden Bridge can change at Brighouse for alternative services.

Replacement buses have been requested between Bradford Interchange, calling at all stations to Hebden Bridge.
