UPDATED: Police name boy, four, who died in Keighley house fire

Enquiries are continuing this evening into the cause of the fire.

The boy was one of two children who had been taken from a house in Sunnyhill Grove, yesterday afternoon (Monday).

They were transported to hospital suffering from serious injuries linked to smoke inhalation. The four-year-old died in hospital while the second child, a ten-year-old boy, was said to be recovering last night.

Det Supt Simon Atkinson said: “Initial enquiries are underway with colleagues in the fire service to determine the cause of this fire and are at a very early stage.

“Clearly this has been a tragic incident in which a young child has lost his life and a full investigation will be carried out.”

The boys were discovered when emergency services were called to the house just after 2pm. Smoke had been seen coming from a back bedroom.
