UPDATED: Tributes to Ovenden crash victims Ben Brearcliffe and Michael Hudson

The two Queensbury men were killed in an accident which happened at around 10pm on Ovenden Road, Lee Mount, Halifax, when the Volkswagen Golf GTI they were travelling in collided with a street lamp as they drove from the town centre.

Friends and family have left floral tributes at the scene and social media messages have spoken warmly of the two men.

Michael’s mother wrote: “To my precious, beautiful, sweetheart son Michael, you’re my love, heart and soul...life isn’t ever going to be the same without you.”

“Dear Michael Hudson, my gorgeous loving boyfriend, words can’t describe how I’m feeling right now - I literally feel like my heart has been ripped out of my chest.”

A tribute read: “Cannot believe you have both gone - going to be missed by everyone, love you both loads R.I.P Kelly.”

Michael’s sister Sophie wrote: “Dear Mike, couldn’t have asked for a better brother...didn’t deserve to be taken from us at only 19. Heaven has gained a new angel, I am well and truly heartbroken. I just wish I could see you one last time...I love you so much from Sophie xxx.”

Ben’s brothers Luke and Josh wrote: “Our little brother Ben, there aren’t enough words to explain how lost we feel or enough space on this page to tell you we’re going to miss you so much and we pray we will see you again.”

The victims were aged 20 and 19 and another 19-year-old man received serious but none life threatening injuries and was taken to Leeds General Infirmary.

The car had been seen travelling with a red Vauxhall Astra VXR around Halifax town centre before the collision.

Police have spoken to the other driver.
