Updated: Woman cut out of car after crash on Calderdale section of M62

Firefighters had to cut a woman out of an overturned car on the Calderdale section of the M62 this morning (Friday).

The incident happened westbound between junction 25 (Brighouse) and junction 24 (Ainley Top) at 3.53am when a white Mini Cooper overturned on to its roof.

The woman, who was driving the vehicle, has been taken to Leeds General Infirmary with “serious but non-life threatening injuries”.

A female passenger was taken to hospital as a precaution

Appliances from Brighouse, Elland and Huddersfield attended the incident.

Two lanes of the carriageway had to be closed for several hours while emergency services carried out their work.
