Video: Man arrested after flat fire in Rastrick

Police and fire crews were called to a suspected deliberate fire at a flat in Rastrick last night (Wednesday).

The incident happened on a ground floor property on Burnsall Road at 9pm and a 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson.

A 24-year-old male occupant suffered smoke inhalation as a result of the fire, which was ignited in the lounge.

Crews from Brighouse and Elland attended and used four breathing apparatus and hose reels to extinguish the flames which were coming out of the windows when they arrived.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it is suspected to have been arson.

A police spokesperson said enquiries were ongoing, but a man has been arrested on suspicion of arson.

Elsewhere, last night firefighters in Illingworth attended a bin fire

The incident, which is believed to have been caused by a discarded cigarette, happened on Cousin Lane at around 7.30pm.

The crew from Illingworth Fire Station used one hose reel to put the fire out.
