Village put on flood alert

An Environment Agency spokesperson said: “A band of rain is forecast to move across the area from the south west from this afternoon.

“There is the likelihood of areas of heavier rain within the main rain band.

“Expect the rivers to respond to this rainfall with levels in the upper catchment peaking late tonight.

“We do not currently expect Centre Vale Park Flood Storage to operate.

“There is the potential for some surface water flooding issues.”
