Calderdale cinema to reopen for first time in seven months

Hebden Bridge Picture House is set to reopen to the public for the first time since March.

The independent not-for-profit cinema, in New Road, is operated by Hebden Royd Town Council and closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

However, on October 30, the motion picture venue will fling open its doors after the staff made behind-the-scenes changes to ensure it abides by Covid-19 social distancing and sanitation rules.

A spokesperson from the venue said: “We’ve been making changes to ensure that Hebden Bridge Picture House is as safe as possible for you and our staff, and that your experience with us is relaxing and enjoyable.

“We have our first two weeks of film and events booked in and a host of live arts events over the coming months too.”

The venue has seen a a new ventilation and extraction system installed within the auditorium, which will be on during all screenings and which changes the air inside the cinema over 15 times per hour.

All seats are reserved and all tickets are sold in advance online and tickets can only be booked in household or social support bubble groups. There will also be a one-way system in place during entry and post-film period.

The venue have asked for kiosk purchases to be made by contactless only and all tickets will be read by QR code scanner.
