Update: Derelict building fire in Elland
Firefighters tackled a blaze at a derelict building in Elland this morning (Sunday).
Crews from Halifax and Rastrick were called to the former Tom Chambers Limited premises on Westgate at 3.55am.
They spent around six hours putting out the fire.
Watch commander Adrian Bairstow said: “It was a very serious fire and caused damage to the building’s structure.
“When we arrived there was flames coming out the roof and one part of the premises.
“The fire was extinguished around 10.45am.”
West Yorkshire Police is still investigating the cause of the fire.
