Video: Calderdale’s Mayor joins Yorkshire Day parade

The Mayor of Calderdale, Pat Allen joined a parade of civic heads from across the county as it made its way through the street of Moorthorpe and South Kirby for the official Yorkshire Day celebrations.

The procession, led by the Oughtibridge Brass Band began at Minsthorpe College and ended at All Saint’s Church in South Kirby, where an hour long service was held.

South Kirby is the smallest area to be selected as an official host of the celebrations since the Yorkshire Society began overseeing the event in 1975.

Halifax is due to host the Yorkshire Day parade in 2016, to mark the reopening of the revamped historic Piece Hall.
