Shelia Hewitt, the landlady at the Shoulder of Mutton, on Mutton Fold, Northowram, said there has been confusion after a pub with the same name less than two miles away closed due to the virus.

Ms Hewitt, who has been the pub licensee for 30 years said the pub will serve the public as normal after her venue was confused with the Shoulder of Mutton, on Carr House Lane, in Shelf, shut on Monday after a customer tested positive for the deadly virus.

"The pubs are close by to each other, which is why I think people have become confused."

Writing on the pub's social media platform, Ms Hewitt said: "Just a quick update, I would like to confirm that I have not been contacted by the NHS Track and Trace or the person in question regarding the supposed COVID-19 case.

"The pub is deep cleaned daily and we are following the correct protocol as outlined by Calderdale MBC and the Police.

"I will update the relevant people once I have been contacted myself."

The two Shoulder of Mutton pubs are located within less than two miles of each other.
