Young firefighters programme

Ten children from Ash Green Community Primary School took part in a six-week Young Firefighters Programme.

A passing out parade completed the programme at King Cross Fire Station when parents and carers and family members were invited to see the children’s achievements.

The learning objective was to make children aware of the role of the fire service and reduce the risk of anti-social behaviour. The children learnt how to be resilient and worked incredibly hard as a team.

Each child received a certificate from the Station Commander Dominic Furby from the Calderdale District and their head teacher Mungo Sheppard.

Mr Furby said: “The children have showed outstanding commitment and resilience to finish the course.”

“Well done to them all.”

Mr Sheppard said: “All the boys have loved their time at the fire station. They have worked as a team and displayed fantastic behaviour. We are very proud of them.”
