Clough join Sunday action

The Foster’s Halifax League’s Sunday Section will have a full complement of teams after all in 2016 after a surprise addition.

Denholme Clough have entered a third team for the first time to give eight teams in all three sections.

That makes life easier for league officials Peter Taylor, who hopes to have the fixtures drawn up by the middle of January.

Taylor said Denholme Clough’s application had come out of the blue.

“They had to apply for re-election at the end of the season and apparently wanted to make sure they got back into the league first,” said Taylor.

Greetland and Northowram Hedge Top had previous withdrawn their Sunday sides for next summer.

Another of Taylor’s roles is dealing with transfers in the Halifax League.

He reports business to be much lighter than 12 months ago with only one move so far, former Luddenden Foot captain Danny Jones having switched to SBCI.
