Jake Hooson hit a unbeaten 70 to guide Walsden to victory. Skipper Nick Barker hit 42 and Karunaratne added 56 not out to his earlier 3-59, joining Hooson in an unbroken stand of 83 to seal victory.

Todmorden’s batsmen found it hard going away to Ramsbottom, who like the Centre Vale men had won their opening two games.

Andrew Sutcliffe elected to bat at Acre Bottom but they made only 139-8 off their 50 overs and hit just eight boundaries.

Professional Chris Schofield reached 58 not out off 100 balls and added 60 for the third wicket with Ben Sutcliffe (28 off 70) but the home attack kept things very tight with Jon Fielding taking 5-38.

Ramsbottom took 44.1 overs to reach their target with opener JJ Fielding’s 59 a career best.

There were a couple of wickets each for Schofield and Hamza Ali.
