League side’s trip postponed

The Foster’s Halifax League side’s trip to play the York Senior League at Goole Town CC today was called off due to rain.

The leagues had been due to play two Twenty/20 matches to decided who would progress to the West Yorkshire Area Knockout Cup and Nixon Trophy finals.

Halifax League press officer Geoff Wright said the trip was aborted at 10am with the rain seemingly set in for the day.

Halifax had been hard hit by holidays and team boss Andrew Pinfield, who opens the batting for champions Jer Lane, was set to play.

Wright said further discussions would take place to see if a new date could be found or whether the leagues would progress in one competition each.
