The 21-year-old opener has been named in the one-day squad while Headingley teammates Jonny Bairstow, Gary Ballance, Jack Brooks, Adam Lyth, Liam Plunkett and Adil Rashid are in that squad and the first-class squad.

Jonathan Trott has also been selected, marking the first step in a possible full international comeback.

Lees and Adam Lyth, the White Rose county’s prolific openers, will both have the chance to measure up against Middlesex batsman Sam Robson - with all three effectively shooting at the same Test spot alongside Alastair Cook.

Bairstow and Ballance, who share 22 Test caps and 19 ODI appearances, are also involved as England attempt to keep their wider squad involved ahead of the World Cup.

Seamers Brooks and Plunkett and all-rounder Rashid complete the Yorkshire contingent.

Former Bradshaw, Illingworth and Lightcliffe player Lees is the special guest at Thursday’s Courier Sports Awards evening at The Venue, Barkisland.
