It was completed at noon today and Matt Dawson, head coach at the centre and a Walsden CC player, said: “It has been superb.”

The event was to raise money for the Sowerby Bridge, Copley and Bridgeholme clubs, whose clubhouses and grounds were flooded on Boxing Day. A quarter of the proceeds will go to the Calderdale Flood Relief Appeal.

Players kept at least one net in use throughout the 24 hours. Dawson and fellow Asylum coaches Jack Hendy and Dom Bennett were present for the duration of the event, as were half a dozen people from Copley CC and one or two others.

Bridgeholme players did a key midnight to 6am shift and the Northowram Fields and Denholme clubs also took part.

Cheshire club Brooklands did a stint and Yorkshire CCC’s Alex Lees, a former Halifax League junior, came for a couple of hours on Wednesday.

Bridge Balti in Sowerby Bridge provided food and Emma Cliff from Calder Physio treated tired muscles.

Donations can still be made via the Cricket Asylum website and Dawson hopes to raise more than £2,000.
