Welcome win for Lightcliffe

Alex Stead’s men aided their Division One survival bid with a 69-run home win over East Bierley.

Next Sunday’s Priestley Cup finalists only totalled 127, thanks mainly to 48 from Jonathan Wilson.

But that proved more than enough as Bierley were shot out for 58 with Rob Burton and overseas man Suleman Khan picking up four wickets each.

The visitors’ last pair added 19 before Lightcliffe sealed victory.

There was also an early-finishing game at Jammy Green where Illingworth were shot out for 83 at home to promotion-gunning Pool in Division Two of the Aire/Wharfe League.

Sam Wilson, who played for Halifax League champions Jer Lane last season, took four wickets.

Luke Brooksby matched Wilson’s efforts as Illingworth tried to hit back but Pool won by four wickets.
