They overhauled their hosts’ 202 all out total with only two balls left.

Bradford and Bingley were on the ropes at 72 for six before a 105 partnership between Noman Ali (73) and Jacob Roach (44 no) left Lightcliffe with much more on their plates.

Suleman Khan’s left-arm spin gave him figures of five for 38 and the overseas man also made an impact in the second half of the game.

Captain Alex Stead (52) shared in stands of 73 for the first wicket with Josh Wheatley (31) and then 51 for the third with Khan (34).

However, Lightcliffe slipped to 170 for eight and it was left to Jonathan Whiteoak (16 no) and young Daanyaal Ahmed (19 no) to clinch victory.

Brighouse’s decision to bat at home to Spen Victoria backfired when they were bowled out for 128. Only number four Sohail Hussain (45) made an impact.

The hosts were given a glimmer of hope when Spen Vic made a disastrous start to their reply. But Zarak Khan (44) and Sohail Khan (40no) steadied the ship after they had been five for three and the visitors won by five wickets.

Calderdale pair Elland and Barkisland lie 10th and sixth respectively in the Huddersfield League’s Premiership after victories yesterday.

Elland were desperate for victory at home to Skelmanthorpe and got it with the help of an excellent bowling display from Sajid Siraj, who took seven for 35 to restrict the visitors to 183.

Niall Lockley (39), Robin Broom (41), Sajid (29) and Michael Midwood (35 no) completed a three-wicket win for the Hullen Edge men.

Luke Bridges’ run glut continued for Barkisland at Shelley.

He made 94 and overseas man Tim Seifert 47 as the visitors romped past Shelley’s 214 all out with seven wickets in hand.

Todmorden’s poor run continued with Twenty/20 and league defeats at home to in-form Accrington on successive nights.

Keiren Grimshaw (54 no) and pro Ockert Erasmus (71 no) helped Accrington to a challenging 164 for three off 20 overs on Friday.

Todmorden were limited to 154 for seven in reply with Pakistani pro Bilawal Bhatti hitting 42 and James Crossley 37.

Tod were undone by medium pacer Jacob Clarke (eight for 35) on Saturday, capitulating to 133 all out in reply to Accrington’s 187 all out.

Paceman Bhatti (six for 45) and left-handed opener Simon Newbitt (44) were the home side’s best performers.

Northowram Fields snatched an unlikely victory for the second home match in succession in the Central Yorkshire League.

Zafar Khan and Jason Smith both took three for 33 to leave the Rams on top at the tea interval, having dismissed Oulton for 179.

However. a succession of poor shots left the home side on the ropes at 81 for seven until Shakeel Mahmood (52) revived their hopes alongside Glen Morrison (25).

When both departed in quick successioin the last pair needed 14 and young Will Parkin twice stroked the ball through the offside to clinch victory by the minimum margin.

Victory takes Northowram back above Oulton and into fourth in the eight-team Championship.

Illingworth beat Knaresborough by eight runs in an exciting Aire/Wharfe Division Two contest at Jammy Green.

Kiwi Danny Gibbs made 59 at the top of the order but they were struggling on 124 for six before Luke Brooksby hit 69 not out off 43 balls to help them up to 238 for seven. Joe Lewis (30) and

Veryan Brooksby (33) were the other key figures in the revival.

Knaresborough moved smoothly to 120 for three with David Girling (62) and Eben Martin (75) to the fore but Illingworth rallied strongly and a run out from the first ball of the final over gave the Halifax side a narrow victory.

Walsden have claims to being Calderdale’s top side at the moment.

They demolished Radcliffe in the quarter finals of the Central Lancashire League’s Twenty/20 competition on Friday, bowling their visitors out for 34 and winning by 10 wickets, before a 96-run home win over champions Norden on Saturday.

Improving young overseas amateur Shubhamn Karkel (71), stand-in skipper Nick Barker (36) and pro Umesh Karunaratne (41) laid the foundations for a good score against Norden and Jamie Shackleton thrashed 34 not out off 15 balls at the end to lift the total to 228 for eight.

Norden were never on course to put in a challenge and were dismissed for 132 with Sri Lankan Karunaratne (five for 34) completing a good day’s work.
