Cycling: Duncan Mullier and Ele Haresign sweep to time trial victories

Harrogate cyclist Duncan Mullier paced his race to perfection as he collected further honours in the Beech House Dental Practice Evening Time Trial League last week.

The Harrogate Nova cyclist was the only to creep under 40 minutes over the nine-mile two-lap course around Langthorpe, Kirby Hill and Skelton.

 Pete Watson, Performance Coaching, had lap splits of 20:55 and 20:32 as he took second with an overall time of 41:27.

Simon Cave went out quicker but could not continue his speed into lap two as he fell behind Watson to finish in 41:33.

Glen Turnbull, Patron, followed Cave’s lead and recorded laps of 20:43 and 20:54 to finish in fourth place, just four seconds off the podium with 41:37.

Craig Stephenson, Performance Coaching, completed the top five with an overall time of 42:28.

Prologue Race Team’s Dylan Flesher knocked 18seconds off the junior course record, stopping the clock at 42:32 to finish sixth overall.

Schoolboy Gus Gardner completed the event in 46:05, just three seconds shy of the school boy course record set by Edwyn Oliver-Evans back in 2010.

In the ladies event, Ele Haresign’s Ironman Triathlon strength showed with a negative split for her two laps (23:04, 22:49), and an overall time of 45:53, just 10 seconds slower than the ladies course record she set twelve months ago.

Corrine Mitchell’s excellent league season continued with another Lady-Veteran course record of 46:53 in second place.
