Altrincham v FC Halifax Town LIVE

No team in the National League has scored fewer away goals this season than Halifax (12)

Just had a quick chat with Chris Millington. He’s in a relaxed mood, feeling confident

In the league this season

Altrincham: PL40 W14 D10 L16 F59 A71 GD-12 Pts52

Halifax: PL39 W12 D10 L17 F37 A45 GD-8 Pts46

Altrincham striker Regan Linney, who has scored four goals in 12 appearances since joining the club from FC United, is cup-tied for the game, as is Halifax defender Adam Senior.

Attacking midfielder Tyrese Sinclair has scored five goals in 10 games for Altrincham since joining on loan from Rochdale. Sinclair was named as Mansfield's youth team's player of the year in 2018-19 having joined them from Blackburn Rovers, but left Mansfield at the end of last season. He scored three goals in 33 appearances for Rochdale before joining Altrincham on loan in February.

Would expect Jesse Debrah to come in for the cup-tied Adam Senior. Also reckon there’s a chance Milli Alli could start ahead of Matty Warburton, the former was really good off the bench on Tuesday while the latter was peripheral at best, coming off before the hour mark. The other possible change would be Dieseruvwe in for Harker up top. As on Saturday at Chesterfield, wasn’t too impressed with Harker in midweek and thought Dieseruvwe did well as a sub. One consideration CM will have is who he might want to end the game with in terms of penalty takers, as I’d say there’s a strong chance we could go all the way to pens.

The home side come into the game in mixed form but they have produced some results of late that I’m not sure Halifax would have been capable of, such as back-to-back wins at York and beating Woking, Solihull and Southend at home. For me, Town have a fair bit to prove that they’re capable of a result here. They were good for 45 minutes here on Boxing Day before it all went wrong in the second-half. As far as momentum goes going into the game, I’d say it’s with Altrincham. Yes they’ve lost 2 of their last 3 but they’re certainly capable of scoring more goals than Town and creating more chances than Town I’d argue and you can’t discount the importance of home advantage.

Expecting around 900 Halifax fans at Moss Lane today. Going to be some atmosphere.

Two sides slugging it out for a place at Wembley. For Alty, it would history-making, their first visit to the national stadium. For Halifax, a chance to salvage their flagging season and give a much-needed boost to all concerned. Plenty at stake.
